Reading between the Text Tables

Text tables are also called crosstabs in tableau

1. If you have been frequent user of pivot tables in excel and recently started using text tables in tableau.

Go to Analysis tab -> Totals-> Show row grand totals and column grand totals

2. Building a highlight table in tableau

1. Use sample superstore data or any data that you want to explore in tableau.
2. Drag Profit to Text , Color and Label on Marks card
3. Change the mark type to Square
4. Choose the appropriate color scheme and clicking on color tab on marks card
5. Drag Region to columns
6. Drag Category and Sub Category to rows

3. To have a comprehensive details about data displayed in tree map just right click on your tab and duplicate as cross tab!

Viola , you can use the text table created for the reference to your tree map

Refrence table will appear on the next sheet!

4. Fun fact about text table

They can contain up to fifty measures on Rows and sixteen on Columns and they do not need to have the same aggregation.
